More than 750 students and families filled the room at this year’s Career & College Night, hosted by PCSD’s Career & Technical Education (CTE) department. The event was one of the largest to date, showcasing just how deeply the community values preparing students for life after high school.
The energy was electric as representatives from colleges, universities, technical schools, military branches, and local career pathways gathered under one roof to connect directly with students. Families explored future possibilities, asked questions, and gained valuable resources to help guide their children’s next steps.
“This is one of the biggest fairs we’ve had,” said organizer Amada Burney. “It’s invigorating to see so many people come together, united by a passion to learn what’s out there career-wise and college-wise for our kids.”
Students shared that excitement as well. A ninth grader from Palatka Jr.-Sr. High School described the event as an eye-opener: “They show you many colleges you could go to in the future. It’s a great opportunity to explore possible careers and schools.”
Jaden, another student, said the fair encouraged him to think ahead: “I came here to look at colleges like UF and get more information about what I can look forward to. We wanted to learn about other schools too, because one of them might be the right fit.”
Others were inspired to set their goals high. One student shared: “I’m interested in administration and want to learn how to run my own business.”
To ensure that all students had the opportunity to participate, PCSD provided transportation from the south and west areas of the county—removing barriers to attendance and making the event accessible to every family.
This year’s Career & College Night was more than just an event—it was a testament to PCSD’s commitment to shaping the future. By connecting students with meaningful resources, pathways, and mentors, the district continues to equip the next generation with the tools, confidence, and connections they need to succeed in college, careers, and life.
